Christmas Day and it’s time to bring out the second of the substitutes, Brewdog’s Abstrakt AB:16. I nearly gave up on this one before I’d even got it open though… that cork must have taken me 10 minutes to get out!
The aroma reminds me of golden syrup cake, raisins, ginger and a bit of alcohol. First taste and there’s dark toffee, coffee, more raisins and bitter dark chocolate (goes well with a chocolate cookie actually).
It’s not going down badly, and it’s nice as a one off, but there’s plenty more Belgian beers that I’d put ahead of it.
Beer: AB:16
Brewery: Brewdog
Style: Belgian Quadruple
ABV: 10.6%
